Group Info

The group is now open and accepting art!

>At the moment, this group is -not- accepting any ballet photography, but instead wishes to focus on illustrations, paintings, and drawings.<

A group for the promotion and exhibition of ballet artwork. This includes both traditional and digital pieces, mixed media, fan art, and sculpture. The subject matter can be anything related to ballet. Pieces can even be inspired by ballet stories or movements - characters don't necessarily have to be in pointe shoes!

We also accept fan art of ballet films, stories, video games, manga, or anime, such as Princess Tutu.

Why we don't accept photos...

On DeviantArt there is a vast amount of ballet photography. However, there is relatively little to be found in the way of illustration, crafts, painting, sculpture, drawings, and costumes. This group was made to promote those arts and connect users who engage in them, and therefore we will not accept ballet photography.

The only photography that we will accept are photos of costumes, crafts, hobbies, etc, that you have MADE with your own hands.
Hello there!

There has been a lot of recent confusion about folders.

"Traditional Media" - anything created with traditional art supplies - pencils, colored pencils, paints, markers, inks, pastels, etc.

"Digital Media" - A piece primarily created with a program on a computer such as Photoshop, SAI, or GIMP.

"Black Swan" - For all art influenced by the film. A picture of Odile with the signature "Black Swan" makeup would go here.

"Swan Lake" -  For all art concerning the actual ballet. An Odile without any visual references to the "Black Swan" film would go here.

We have been receiving a lot of traditional pieces that people are trying to at the Digital Media folder. Because this group is small, I am still accepting them, yet I have to manually move them to the correct folder.

As always, we DO NOT ACCEPT PHOTOGRAPHY. As to why this group does not, please read the front page.

Hey there!
I was just wondering - I had a piece get declined and then another one expire. Are there any group rules I'm missing? Because I thought I followed all the ones I could find. Please let me know what I can do in the future and if I should even bother resubmitting my pieces :) Thank you!

I have a question, do you accept fanfictions and written stories Or just photos and drawings?
Stagsleap Sep 24, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Yes, the group will accept literature! I'll create a category for such deviations. :)

Hey there :) before I submit something that doesn´t fit I wanted to ask: is a portraid showing only the face of a ballet dancer acceptable in this group, too? I just wondered if the pictures submitted here may only be accepted if they show a direct dancing szene.
I would be happy about an answer :)
Stagsleap Sep 5, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Yes, that should be acceptable. Just be sure to make it clear in the description that it's a ballet dancer/ballet related. :)
Sorry to bother you but please reed my journal: [link] and help me!!
